500 Hour Inspection Details
** SOME MAGNETOS MAY REQUIRE AN OVERHAUL DUE TO AGE, QUAILITY AND CONDITION OF THE MAGNETO**

Bendix S20/ S200 Series Mags
Comply with ALL ADs, and Service Bulletins
-
Measure endplay of bearings (.000 to maximum of .002)
-
complete dissassembly of the mag.
-
housings checked for cracks, spun bearings, pulled threads
-
distributor block and breaker cam oil bathed in 10-400550 oil at 200 degrees for 3 hours (early style blocks that require a water proof dip are automatically changed since dip is no longer produced)
-
replace all distributor block felt packing
-
oil felt washer with 10-400550 oil
-
coil measured .5 ohms primary/ 15k ohms secondary
-
coil clamps must have half moon or FAA/PMA mark
-
Impulse Coupling Cam check for loose washers/ rivets and measure axial to flyweight (.014 Max)
-
inspect distibutor gear for wear, discoloration, loose washers/ electrode finger, measure distance shaft to finger. Change out all capture washer distibutor gears per SB-658.
-
replace capacitor.
-
replace contacts
-
clean and inspect bearings
-
recharge rotor
-
replace all hardware, oil seal, slinger
-
time and test run hot
**
Bendix S1200 Series Mags
Comply with ALL ADs, and Service Bulletins
-
complete dissassembly of the mag.
-
housings checked for cracks, spun bearings, pulled threads

Comply with all ADs, and Service Bulletins

Complete disassembly of the magneto
-
Parts change included with inspection- contacts/cam/rotor gear/bearings/oil seal/carbon brush/hardware.

The remaining parts are inspected for wear, damage and their ability to function to spec/manufacturer requirements, and replaced if needed.

Clean and inspect housings for cracks, spun bearings, and pulled threads
-
Oil bath distributor block and support bracket
-
Recharge rotor magnet.
-
Test run HOT.
-
Average cost $400-$450 (labor and included parts)

Inspections come with a 500 hour warranty
